Where the types come from?
We built the five types ourselves, using ideas from environmental psychology: Schwartz's research on values, Steg and Vlek's review of what drives eco-friendly behavior, Thøgersen on why one green habit tends to pull others along, Gifford's "dragons of inaction", and Clayton and colleagues' work on climate distress. Your result lists the sources behind your type, each with a link.
Frequently asked
Questions
How accurate is this quiz?
It's a snapshot, not a lab result. Ten questions can't sum up a whole person. But answer the same way twice and you land on the same type, every time. Read the description next to yours too. Most people carry traits of two or three.
Can my type change over time?
Yes. The quiz measures where you stand today, not who you are for good. Habits change. The type that fits changes right along with them. Retake it in six months and see what's different.
Is this a validated psychological test?
No. We built the five types ourselves, pulling on ideas from real environmental psychology research. Your result page lists exactly which studies sit behind your type. Think of it as a mirror, not a diagnosis.
What if two types feel right?
Common. Expected, even. When two types tie, the quiz picks whichever one you chose more recently. Answers spread across two or three types? That's real information. Go read both descriptions and see which one actually sounds like you.
Does the quiz save or share my answers?
No. Your answers live in your browser, and only while you're on the page. Nothing gets sent to us. Close the tab and it's gone.
What is eco-anxiety?
Ongoing worry about environmental damage. Psychologists call it a reasonable response to a real threat, not a disorder. It's also one of our five types: Eco Anxious.
