About Earthava

Our Story

We began Earthava's journey with a moment of inspiration that kinda caught us by surprise. While exploring ways to start a business that aligned with our values, we stumbled across this fascinating course on off-grid living and reducing environmental impact. The concepts immediately clicked with us, not just as business ideas but as principles we wanted to bring into our own lives too.

This initial spark grew into something bigger as we started building Earthava around these sustainability concepts. What began as a modest project gained momentum faster than we expected. Turns out, lots of people were searching for honest, practical information about sustainable living without all the greenwashing or impossible standards that make environmental content feel so overwhelming sometimes.

As our audience grew, so did our vision. We expanded our content (sometimes staying up way too late to finish research!), dug deeper into topics, and before we knew it, things began to escalate beyond what we'd initially imagined. The small seed we planted has grown into the Earthava you see today and honestly, some days we still can't believe how far we've come. Each step of this journey has only made us more committed to providing genuine guidance for people who want to reduce their environmental impact without turning their whole lives upside down.

Our crew

Who We Are

Our team brings together diverse expertise that shapes how we approach sustainability:

We're a mix of environmental researchers, sustainability enthsuisats, and materials science nerds. Some of us got frustrated in academic settings where important findings just collected dust in journals nobody read. Others got tired of watching companies water down environmental initiatives until they were barely more than marketing points.

We're definitely not perfect environmentalists! We forget our reusable bags sometimes. We occasionally cave and buy the convenient option instead of the sustainable one. But that's exactly why we think our perspective helps, we understand the real-world challenges of trying to make better choices in an imperfect system.

Our Mission & Values

Truth over trends

We won't recommend something just because it looks good on Instagram. Sometimes the most sustainable option is the unglamorous one that's been around for decades.

Systems thinking

Individual choices matter, but we also look at the bigger picture. We'll help you figure out where your actions actually make a difference versus where systemic change is needed.

Accessibility

Not everyone can afford solar panels or an electric vehicle tomorrow. We prioritize solutions that work for different budgets, living situations, and life stages.

Constant improvement

The science keeps evolving, and so do we. When new information changes our understanding, we'll update our content even if it means admitting we got something wrong before.

Our Content Standards

Deep research

We dig into peer-reviewed studies and talk to experts when we can. We've been known to fall down research rabbit holes that turn a "quick article" into a week-long project. (We get help from Advanced AI assistant, too!)

Real-world testing

Whenever possible, we try stuff ourselves before recommending it. We've had plenty of "this looked great in theory but is terrible in practice" moments that saved our readers from making the same mistakes.

Thorough editing

Each piece goes through multiple reviews. Sometimes this leads to heated debates about claims or recommendations, but we think that tension produces better content in the end.

Real about tradeoffs

We'll never pretend there's a perfect solution to every problem. Sustainability involves compromises, and we'll help you understand what you're trading off with different choices.

Phone cases

From Content to Creation: Our Eco-Friendly Phone Cases

Our phone cases weren't part of some grand business plan. They happened because we want a product of our own, we can be proud of, and while there is not much focus on phone cases and that plastic phone cases contribute to a big portion of plastic waste we decided to go for it.

Instead of creating something from scratch (which would've been a disaster, none of us knew the first thing about manufacturing!), we searched for partners who already knew what they were doing. After some trial and error, we found a manufacturer with Intertek eco-certification who could deliver on both sustainability and quality.

Our phone cases use: Plant polymers mixed with bamboo fibers that actually protect your phone when you inevitably drop it (we tested this extensively, sometimes accidentally). Packaging you can actually reuse instead of immediately trash. Materials that don't fall apart after a month of use (because we've all had those "eco" products that didn't last). Designs that don't scream "I'm an eco-product!" but still look good.

Note: the most eco-friendly phone case is the one you already have, with that said, we don't recommend buying our phone case when you have one already working for you.

Our Readers

Our Promise to You

Environmental news can be downright depressing sometimes. We get it. There are days when we wonder if anything we do actually matters in the face of such massive challenges. But here's what keeps us going: behind every dire statistic are millions of individual choices that add up to something significant. We've seen how small ripples can create bigger changes over time.

We promise to be your trusted guide, free from judgment and perfectionism. We'll focus on progress over perfection, celebrate small wins, and build a community where questions (even the ones that feel "basic") are welcomed and learning is ongoing.

Thanks for being part of this journey with us. We're figuring it out as we go, too.
